All,
On Monday i came into work, logged into my managment server and tried to launch the admin console. The splash screen appeared and then after 5 minutes it came up with the error "unable to retrieve version of server"
After a lot of research, checking registry etc, could not find a solution.
What i ended up doing is running the following:
1> Shutdown Netbackup
2> Flush DNS (ipconfig /flushdns)
3> Cleared the Netbackup host cache (bpclntcmd –clear_host_cache)
4> Restart Netbackup
everything worked fine.
now - i believe the reason for this was over the weekend we had a DR test in which DNS was flipped over to another site. The DNS server was reinstated back to original state and when i stopped and restarted the services - most of the weekend full jobs stopped with error code 50.
I have run an nslookup on the DR site FQDN and the IP addresses are both the same for the PR and DR sites for all media servers / management servers / DataDomains etc.
So 1) I cant work out why a DR test would cause the jobs and admin console to stall and
2) I have another DR test this weekend and it is month end backups and aside for running the above again and re-running the jobs again - not sure what else to look at / fix?
