Is this normal behaviour for DFS backups or has the backup become dazed and confused? This not the first time seen this.
A MS-Windows policy is backing up only the Shadow Copy Components from five dirs. Found the DFSR server has disk IO maxed and found that two processes (bpbkar) were responsible for having squillions of files open (according to MS Resource Monitor).
